February 4th, 2009 was the day that I was accompanied by a school of Music Lovers and well wishers to Caffe Brass Monkey to sing or as some did, cheer on those that were braver than they were. Some eventually fell to peer pressure and some others leaned towards the strength found in “liquid courage” but as the saying goes “…all is well that ends well” everyone had a great time.
Songs originally written and performed by The Eagles, Journey, Lauryn Hill, Bob Marley, Genesis (Phil Collins), Mary J. Blige, and Alicia Keys (to mention a few) were performed by male and female vocalists in a bar that comes off as one of the hidden gems of L.A. The atmosphere was beautiful. People were celebrating birthdays, socializing and singing/enjoying songs from their youth to songs that they have not heard in a while. Music from just about every era was performed. Hearts were light all across the room and in normal Karaoke style, there were the scary entertainers, the blessed singers, surprising talent and some would have been paid not to touch the microphone but that is what makes it Karaoke.
Karaoke is for everyone that walks in the door; celebrating an event or even after a stressful day. I have gone to different locations for Karaoke in the city of Los Angeles but no other establishment has made me feel at home like Caffe Brass Monkey. As of right now, it is the official Karaoke bar for the Voice of Kelechi Ukoha in Los Angeles.
I am going to use this time to send out a special “Thank You” to everyone that came out yesterday, it was a blast and yes we are going to do it again and soon!

Yea, I had fun lastnight, & we should certainly do it again… Caffe Brass Monkey is actually d best Karaoke joint I’ve been 2 in LA… with screens everywhere & a friendly crowd, it’s always a stress reliever 2 just walk in there. And we got T-shirts too! As a result of my desire 2 grab an orange one, I ended up with a large sized Tee, so now it’s automatically a night wear…lol
Next stop is Karaoke in Chino hills. I hope we’ll have as much fun as we did at the Monkey.. *_*

Wow, had a great time at Karaoke night celebrating “National Singing Day.” It was a good-sized crowd, judging by the wait list… but was very worth it. It was a comfortable, cozy bar (I never thought I’d ever use those two words in the same sentence) and was warm and friendly as well. We had a lot of room to let loose with our dance routines, just having fun. The staff was great and were very welcoming. I hope to go back soooon!
