Hello Music Lovers! I have to tell you, I love this part of my day. Today, I present to you the Princess of New York City! A voice that sends shivers down your spine, commanding presence, towering yet touching performances, I mean girl can sing! Allow me to bring to you Singer Songwriter, Alicia Keys.
Born Alicia Augello Cook in Hell’s Kitchen (Manhattan), NYC, she had everyone “Fallin” in love with her voice. She has a “girl next door” presence to her but no matter who you are when she is on stage you will never take your eyes off of her.
She is an example of someone who did what it took to get her where she is. Alicia attended the Professional Performing Arts School and graduated. Later on she went to Columbia University and one day like that she stopped. That is right music lovers she is a college drop out. She knew right there and then where she belonged was not in a classroom.
This girl is another powerhouse; she is a singer-songwriter, classic pianist, cellist and actress. Her debut album was released in 2001 and since then she has released 2 more studio albums, 1 live album and has featured in 3 movies. This has resulted into a host of awards and nominations. For instance, she has 24 Grammy nominations of which she took 11 home. She has been nominated for a total of 154 awards globally of which she took 79 of them home and I am pretty sure she is not done.
Young Female Vocalists! I call out to you to take a look at the True Musician and learn. Copy the good things. Alicia understands that this is a business and made sure that she is recognized for more than just being a pretty face.

Words can not express how much I adore this young lady. The first time I ever heard Alicia Keys was in Equatorial Guinea. I was working for Schlumberger, an Oilfield Services company and a fellow colleague of mine from Trinidad and Tobago (Nigel) brought her to my attention.
Ever since them I have been “Falling” for her.

It’s amazing that she’s won so many global awards, and she continues to be so gracious in accepting them… I’ve never heard of her being a “no show” for example. I would love to find her sheet music online… would you know where I could find some?

Alicia gives her all in concerts! I had the pleasure of seeing her in May 2008 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles as part of my “month” long bday celebrations, Ne Yo tried to compete with her fierceness…but Alicia was the true winner of the evenings concert. She sings with such passion, can’t wait for her to release another album!
