We are now in the the second decade of this Millennium and I am wondering whether we learned anything from the past years. A few people have come to me and asked me what they have to do to “make it” in the music industry. [click to continue…]

Music lovers! 2009 is the year that I decided to put my talent to the test and give it a honest go. I am ready to sing anywhere that a mic is plugged in without holding back. In the spirit of this new found courage I entered a Karaoke competition to see partially for my self how my voice and performance will be accepted and if not what I can do to improve.
Names and songs were turned in to the Karaoke DJ [click to continue…]

Music lovers! I know you have been wondering “Who is next?” Well, I will start of by telling you that he knows a thing or two about the “Streets of Philadelphia”. Think about this, he is nicknamed “The Boss” for a reason. His voice is not the smooth and silky-sweet type, yet it embodies the heart and soul of Americans from coast to coast. When he is on stage with the guitar shedding tears in his hands, it feels like America cries with him. When he smiles on stage, the people in the crowd suddenly start to smile and feel no pain. For a man that is called “The Boss”, he sure is a gentle one. That’s right music lovers I am talking about the one and only Bruce Springsteen. [click to continue…]

February 4th, 2009 was the day that I was accompanied by a school of Music Lovers and well wishers to Caffe Brass Monkey to sing or as some did, cheer on those that were braver than they were. Some eventually fell to peer pressure and some others leaned towards the strength found in “liquid courage” but as the saying goes “…all is well that ends well” everyone had a great time. Music Lovers! I am very excited! The President Elect has been sworn into office (finally) and is officially the 44th President of the United States of America, President Barrack Hussein Obama. If you have ever listened to a radio, watched TV, surfed the web, read any news material, walked anywhere in the last two months you will know why this event is special to America, Africa and the World. The First African-American in the history of this country to become President, hearing anyone just utter the words “President Barrack Hussein” Obama gives me goose bumps!
For this I had to bring in someone to the Voice of Kelechi Ukoha that is worthy of the event. This gentleman, wow, I think he wants to be the hardest working man in the music industry and if not yet, he is on the fast track to getting there. With no further ado, I bring you Ne-Yo. Music Lovers! This is really starting to become an amazing ride. I want you to know that I am going to do my best to bring music to you from every corner of the earth, and if you know any singers in Mars, let me know, I will go and look for them and bring them to the Voice! I am actually in Washington DC right now visiting my sister and getting ready for the Inauguration of the President – Elect Barrack Obama. I forgot how “immeasurably” cold it gets here at this time of year; I started to lose feeling in my fingers and toes.
So, I decided to go to one of the stores in Baltimore to see what sweater I could find. Right before I walked in a young beautiful lady stopped me in the cold with a pink and black college style jacket, asking me if I would like to purchase their gospel CD that they have just released. Music Lovers! How are you doing? I have a treat for you today! I am going to write about this young man that I am very proud of. He swooned the hearts of many women across the globe. A man who used his voice to re-define an extension of royalty and in a way staked his claim in the music industry. If I had any doubt of this fact it cleared when I was in a lounge in Los Angeles, in there I heard a young lady of Asian descent (Japanese, yes, I asked) singing the lines “…the girl of my dreams! You are my African Queen, you make my heart…” Music Lovers, I am proud to present to you, 2Face Idibia. [click to continue…]

Hello Music Lovers! I think I have a bit of surprise for you. See 1998 was one of those great years for me and I remember I used to listen to Peter Gunz and Lord Tariq, you know “Uptown baby, Uptown baby, we get’s down baby…” Biggie Smalls, Faith Evans, I mean Hip-Hop and R&B was hot and heavy. One of the songs I remember that blew my mind was this song called “Day Dreamin”. I heard it on the radio first time on my way to class and I was determined to find out who was the voice behind the “speakers”. I got home and was watching BET and guess who I saw? ASHLEY! ASHLEY BANKS! I was amazed! Tatyana Ali was the voice I was looking for. [click to continue…]
